Mmm...Breakfast

Right now I am eating the leftovers from last night's dinner (steak, chicken, fettucini and french fries), updating the blog, and waiting for Omid to wake up some time in the next 4 hours. Omid will check us out of the hotel by 12 pm, then we'll probably have lunch. Dad said Jose is going to pick us up from the hotel at 1 pm and drive us to the Causeway and the Canal. We'll have enough time to take the long tour of the Canal before Jose drives us to the airport at 5:30. We'll pick Dad up on the way and all go to the airport together. Our flight leaves around 6:45 pm.

As you can see, we are all packed and ready to go. Omid will check-in the 2 big suitcases and tell the front desk that we will be back Sunday night. I managed to fit all of our clothes in the small suitcase and put everything else in my backpack. Dad is leaving his computer at the hotel.

Omid, of course, was a great help. I couldn't have done it without him.

What a dutiful brother I have! You should be so proud. After dinner he went straight to the poker tables. Dad and I went from casino to casino looking for him, checking one poker room after another. We finally found him in this tiny poker room that is strangely detached from the rest of the hotel. To get there you have to navigate across a casino lobby, go up a flight of stairs, through a maze of rooms and finally cross an outdoor rooftop area to a small corner of the building. It was weird. Omid was sitting with 2 or 3 guys (most of them worked there) drinking a beer. He didn't come back to the room until early this morning. I'm glad to see he's making the most of this trip.

Unfortunately, Omid cannot be bothered to get-up and take a picture of me....Did I mention how wonderfully helpful he is? Yeah, he's a great travel buddy. Gambles all night. Sleeps all day. Only stays long enough to eat his dinner and beg some money off dad. It is such a joy to have him around.

I hope the monkeys eat him.

Ellie has arrived...

This is the view from our room. It was raining when I came out of the airport, but only a light drizzle. It was a little muggy, too. I expected it to be a lot hotter.

The hotel is nice, like something you might find in Las Vegas.

This is what the room looks like. Omid and Dad are going to have to share a bed because we can't fit a roll-away in here.

Omid was very welcoming. Not. I found him leaning against a wall outside the hotel, smoking a cigarette and drinking a V8 Splash. The first thing he asked me was how much money I brought with me. Also, no one speaks English here. Not even the guy at the Front Desk.
